OpenAI, the company behind DALL-E 2, did away this week with the invitation-only barrier to its artificial intelligence image generation tool, opening the growing platform to anyone interested in using it.
So far, roughly 1.5 million users have used DALL-E to generate a wide array of imagery, from photorealistic faces and landscapes to painterly renderings of characters and scenes that didn’t exist until a user typed in a string of descriptive prompts to guide the AI’s output. Each AI image generator starts with free access, with pricing set according to usage. But it’s tricky. / Via Quartz

Who wouldn’t want to drive a vehicle built by a company who’s sense of fit and finish, its attention to the user’s experience is second to none? A vehicle we could facilely call The iPhone of EVs — although “Apple Car” is a powerful enough monicker. Spoiler alert, it kinda sucks. / Via Monday Note

Scott Galloway, a professor of marketing at NYU and cohost of the Pivot podcast with Kara Swisher, published a piece over the weekend in which he argued that it was time to end anonymity online.
“The prevalence of anonymous accounts and bots has evolved into a sociopolitical scourge,” Galloway wrote. “We should change course and require proof of identity online. Enforced ID won’t solve all these problems, but it would be a step in the right direction.” / Via Garbage Day c/o [SIC]

After dropping collabs with Angelo Baque, Tremaine Emory and Renell Madrano, ASICS has readied the fourth release from their ASICS Collective initiative: a pearly GEL-Nimbus 9 designed in partnership with Procell co-founder Jessica Gonsalves. The past releases pulled from their designers’ personal backstories, and Gonsalves’ sneaker is no different as it draws directly from her family’s love of sailing. / Via Hypebeast

Genies doesn’t make metaverses. Although the trendy term describes an assortment of digital landscapes and characters across the internet, Genies has been sticking to its mission of creating avatar ecosystems – long before web3 entered our vernacular. / Via HighSnob
